I broke out the lathe this morning and had some fun turning a block of wood I salvaged out of some firewood from earlier this year… click on the link to check out the timelapse video.

"the dispatch by dave morin, $3.99/month"... Bye, Dave. I'm sure you'll find some people to pay you.
Droolin' over airplay. Definitely ordering a new Apple TV. Just being able to stream photos from my phone to my TV makes it worth it.
Bit the bullet and upgraded to reason 5. Holy hell, Kong drum designer!! Crap, now I need beatseqr to sequence 16 voices.
Just assembled beatseqr number 10 -- soldering time: 2 hours. Tested it out and everything fired right up as expected. :D
Oh man, I didn't realize lunch was going to be 10 miles away and 90 minutes. #deadlines

Lathe & Drill Press Time Lapse
Steve Cooley has a couple time lapse videos of building things- the first video making a table for his drill press the second video is turning some old wood in to a really neat looking table leg or something Link. Perhaps on my next project I’ll do…

Steve,
22 May 2005, 6:59 pmI really like your time lapse videos. Someone posted a link to them on the Home Shop Machinist metalworking site. Could you post a brief description of how you set up your camera to do the time lapse recording and perhaps a quick note on how the editing was done? I assume you’re using some of that good Mac software. (Apple rocks!).
Thanks for sharing your videos.
Peter Bowen:
Hey – I’m glad to see that you got the lathe out… just a quick tip… when you’re rounding, you can allow the back of the gouge to ride on the piece. If it isn’t round, the gouge will bounce. It saves time starting and stopping the lathe to check your progress.
23 May 2005, 9:33 amIt always amazes me how well even a crummy piece of firewood turns out. A great woodpile project for next time is a mallet for setting drive centers and such.
