tiling the extended counter top

We found what appears to be a rejected counter top in our garage. It had a mangy looking particleboard top and some serious problems with the overall look and feel. Nonetheless, our kitchen really needs more counter space, so we decided to drag it in when our fridge came and put it where the old fridge was. Yesterday my folks and R and I went to Expo and picked out these awesome black granite tiles. They’re pretty heavy, 6lbs apiece. Amazing a little box barely over 12″x12″x10″ can weigh 60 pounds, like an über record crate or something… “l33t djs only spin platinum records.. solid platinum, that is”

ha, anyway, go check out a time lapse movie of me setting the tiles

We headed over to Home depot and picked out some 2″ wide aluminum bar to wrap around the perimeter of the MDF counter top. I’m working on cutting and setting those as well. I’ll post photos when I’m done.
