Ceramics class night 2

We all got shown around the art lab and ceramics lab last night. The labs look to be well stocked. I think the kilns are smaller than moorpark’s, but they have a 50 cu. Ft. Gas fired updraft car kiln, a downdraft gas fired car kiln, and three electric kilns… And a raku firing area as well. I think the teacher is very good so far, and the lab assistant is also very knowledgable and nice. What was a surprise for me was the art lab. They have a huge 18″ behemoth band saw, a 14″ band saw, two drill presses, two large disc sanders, grinders, sanders, a plate metal scorer, a foundry area(!), welding stuff, a nice supply store, good lighting, and a fairly extensive if poorly performing but well meaning dust management ducting system… Lots of possibilities here! –sjc

This is my fourth sidekick…

No, I don’t have 4 sidekicks, I’ve had 3 that died. That’s averaging out to be one a month since they released them. With an average of 7 days being out of service between phones. I figure I’m well within my moral rights to start marking the sim card protector bezel “all your base are belong to us” just to see how long it takes for myself or someone else who might read this to receive one back from being reconditioned. Kind of a tracking mechanism… I’d really rather not have to do this in the first place, but hey, we’re early adopters. –sjc

Mechanical brushes

After messing around with a php based flash library (not ming or flashlib) I started thinking about making some mechanical paint brushes… Maybe out of lego? I need a lot of little cogs… Hmm… –sjc
