Awesome article on wired about Alexander Shulgin

Wired has a fantastic article on Alexander Shulgin posted. It’s some great insight into one of the pioneers of modern scientific research on the synthesis and uses of psychoactive compounds. Yes, that lightbulb graphic is most appropriate.

Psychedelics are a means for adults to gain insight into themselves, Shulgin says. “The best words I can use are research tools.”

Dangit, Are there no more new words???

So there i was in a dream, not an action dream or a wandering dream, and being a few days old, the one thing i remember was a little boy skipping down the sidewalk of the back-east looking street singing the catch to a song he’d probably heard on TV or something… he kept saying “Kangroola… kangaroola” Which i thought was cute. What a great name for a kids show, as I woke up… I told my wife and she thought it was cute too. Then i started thinking “dang, maybe I outta invent something and call it kangaroola or something”… neat word. huh.

then i started remembering something about my dream.. the kid, maybe 4-6 years old, I thought it was kinda dangerous for him to be out on the street… I remembered seeing a priest keeping an eye on him, so i equated the building we were in front of as being a church… then i was imagining a system to keep an uninterrupted line of sight on a person.. I dunno why… maybe like a leash, but it’s mostly to be alerted when the person you’re trying to keep an eye on moves out of your direct line of sight. Then i was thinking, “maybe it’d shock anyone with electricity if you got in the way” .. dunno why…

so then i was thinking “Kangaroola” Maybe that’s the name of this line-of-sight-keeper thing… and my google search came up empty … amazing! My register.com search for kangaroola.com was available … incredible! then i did something I don’t normally do, a search on alltheweb.com, and was disappointed to learn of the ALEX VAUGHAN’s REPERTOIRE of kids songs…

are there no new words left??

oh yeah, then I woke up… well, before I did all that searching. :)
